Ascension Day
The Ascension Files

So I heard today was Ascension Day, so I did some research and sure enough, it really is. And although I’m a Christian, I identify more with being spiritual rather than religious. Not to take anything away from the original meaning of this day — I have all respect for those who still celebrate it for what it truly was and is — but in honor of The Ascension Files, and the idea that not everyone celebrates this day in the same traditional way anymore, I thought maybe we could make this “The Ascension Files Day” for this little reading community we’re building together.
This is officially my 14th article written, and we began The Ascension Files on May 8th, 2026. So in a way, May 8th became our birthday… and today feels symbolic. Fitting. Aligned.
I looked deeper into Ascension Day and found this quote:
“One of the earliest Christian festivals, Ascension Day marks the end of the Easter season. This event is celebrated primarily by Catholics and Anglican Christians; most Protestant churches do not follow this tradition anymore.” — National Today National Today – Ascension Day
I also learned that Ascension Day actually changes yearly date-wise because it’s celebrated 39 days after Easter Sunday. I thought that was interesting because even the timing of it moves depending on the year and season. But for The Ascension Files, I want this date — May 14th — to permanently represent “The Ascension Files Day” every single year moving forward.
Reading more about Ascension Day honestly made me reflect on how traditions evolve over time, and maybe people do too. Some people grow through religion, some through spirituality, some through heartbreak, discipline, art, therapy, silence, failure, success, community, isolation… and most of us through a mixture of all of it.
That’s what I want The Ascension Files to represent.
A place where people can be honest.
A place where people can evolve publicly without pretending to already have all the answers.
A place where reflection is welcomed instead of judged.
A place where transparency doesn’t make you weak.
A place where growth isn’t perfection — it’s simply the willingness to continue.
We’re all ascending in some way.
Emotionally.
Mentally.
Spiritually.
Financially.
Creatively.
Physically.
Some days it’s obvious.
Some days it feels invisible.
But if you’re trying, if you’re reflecting, if you’re actively choosing to become better instead of bitter… you’re ascending already.
So celebrate with me today.
Celebrate honesty.
Celebrate openness.
Celebrate whole-heartedness.
Celebrate evolution.
Celebrate surviving versions of yourself that almost broke you.
Celebrate the fact that despite everything, you’re still becoming.
And if you’re new here — welcome to my community.
Thank you for being here, period.
Reach past the stars.
